Trip Essentials

Apart from having great friends to travel with, one of the must have items has got to be a camera.

Now I'm no professional photog. Hand me a camera and 8/10 of the pictures I take will have what my photog friend calls as the "Blurred Motion" effect. In order words, I'm really good at taking shaky pictures! Lol!

Seeing what an idiot amateur I am with taking photos, I need a camera that is easy-to-use. Definitely none of those SLR cameras for me. A digital SLR camera to me is like me (who don't cook btw) trying to whip out a gourmet meal for a group of food critics.

Although most rational people in my place would opt for a simple digital camera (those square-ish kind), that simply won't do for me. A simple digital camera won't be able to justify the beautiful landscape in Europe. (And don't think I don't hear you asking "Are you sure it's NOT because of your lack of photo-taking skills that could be the problem here?")

A simple digital camera should only be used when out camwhoring with your girfriends on a drunken night.

I have found the perfect camera for an amateur photog like myself. With wide-angle super zoom lens, it can take beautiful landscape pics as well as macro shots, it's portable and has user-friendly format. AND the best part is, it can also take High Definition videos. Woootss!

Say hello to the Canon PowerShot SX20 IS! :)

If you're not looking at spending extra $$$ for a good camera, I may have a solution for those of you who are using the iPhone. Afterall, like what world-renowned photog, Chase Jarvis, said, "the best camera is the one that's with you". I will touch base on using the iPhone's built-in camera in  my future post.

Till then, ciao!

Blogging from your mobile

I'm trying to see what is the best way for me to send pictured posts to Blogger via my BB and its killing my patience and I am losing sleep!! Let's see now...

[edit] And it works!! So for those interested in doing this, it is simple. Just email your blog entry with a photo attachment to your preassigned "Email Posting Address" which you can set up by following the easy steps at Dashboard>Settings>Email & Mobile>Posting Options. It seems that people are having some problems just selecting a picture from their mobile and clicking on the "Email to" option, so this may be your solution! I am happy now.

I should be doing work but...

I was randomly trawling sites and came across this

"The Rooster is a hard worker; shrewd and definite in decision making often speaking his mind. You are a dreamer, flashy dresser, and extravagant to an extreme. Born under this sign you should be happy as a restaurant owner, publicist, soldier or
world traveler."

It is a sign! After Asia and America, Europe must be conquered next!

To be fair...

I am only leaving for Europe in 2 days, or less XD Regardless, though I spend approx. 1/3 of my year in Europe, it is strictly work related, and I have never had the chance to really explore the continent. At times when I actually get to wander away from my duties, rarely am I in the company of people I know well enough to call friends, most of the time with people I don't really want to hang out with. That is why I am so excited just thinking about walking the streets of Paris with the other 2 eating our toasted paninis, or having fresh scones with homemade jam in a chic cafe by the River Thames, basking in a lifestyle so very alien compared to ours (though I honestly believe that if we were to compare us to the Europeans, I think we are probably closer to practicing alien culture here at home)!!

Just as the title says, we are going to try to chronicle our every step in fulfilling this dream. Every, painful, step!

Let the records of our journey begin.

Title Scmitle

As I stare at the blank screen in front of me, thinking about what to write for my first entry on this blog, the more I believe I should've come up with a more relevant longer funkier different title instead of "We're Not That Lost in Europe!: The Chronicles".

Yeah, the more I think of it, perhaps the title should've been "2 Girls Trying To Get To Europe as 1 is Already There " or something along those lines.

Lol.

Ok, ok, I'm just spitting nonsense at the moment ;)

First Post!

All right! So here we are! 3 girls going on a trip to Europe in 2010! We haven't got our tickets yet but our spirits are high and we are hopeful (albeit my pocket is a bit dry right now but let hope that will be remedied as January rolls by). Leave your snippets and whatnots here, girls!

About Us

HANIE is a hobbit who is oft buried under piles of paper, pen and Copic markers. Severe lack of exposure to sunlight, nutrition and communication with outside world gives her a somewhat moldish, sickly pallor so one may mistake her for Gollum instead. Lots of things make her happy but chocolates, good movies, good books, pretty baked goods, free art supplies, attractive men with pristine posteriors (Christian Bale I'm looking at you) and trips to exotic distant lands work particularly well. Dabbles in the arts by day, a dreamer by night, and seeker for truth and all things beautiful for all times.

NORA: "So who am I? I’m the type of person who dreams a lot and am contented even if those dreams are never to be realized, just because you ‘experience’ it all the same, in dream. I believe that if reality is sad, you can still laugh in your head. I’m the type of person who do not have regrets, and not because I believe that things all happen for a reason. I just believe that things happen! So what, right? I'm the type of person who loves to know more, because life is so full. I’m just like you, who think I’m different from everyone else. Funny isn’t it, how we work. "

Lydd is a true Sagittarian at heart. This freedom-loving, adventure-seeking girl is always searching for her next adrenaline fix. A closeted guitar rocker (wannabe), she is always game to try out something new and will literally come up with any excuse to travel. For this European trip, she cites the beautiful European landscape and unique architecture will provide the perfect background for her new hobby - photography! Lydd is easy to pick out from a crowded room and that's not because of her size (or lack thereof), but simply from her thunderous and often infectious laughter.
